Admonish the sinner

     The first spiritual work of mercy is to admonish the sinner. In the Catechism it shows how advising a person of a sin is an act of love.

     I want to point out how the church allows you to advise a person about a sin he or she is about to commit. You want to open their eyes to the sin. Advise them to avoid the sin. And IF you make things worse by pointing things out DIRECTLY, then better to show the person indirectly. Huh? How? "Show by example". Model the behavior you want the person to do. It's the same thing parents, teachers, doctors/nurses, and police officers do (hopefully) every day.

     So let's ask the question. Do you lead by example? Do you model appropriate/good behavior?

     Did you notice anyone modeling behavior to you? How'd that feel? Better than being told? Or would you prefer to be told?

     I took this photo from a website that is not my own. Unfortunately, in the pdf version the website name did not show up when I opened it in iBook.  In the end this is not my work. Closest responsibility would be the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

We are all sinners trying to be living saints

     Living Saints are called upon by God. Even then, there are trials and tribulations.

     We are sinners trying to be living saints. We have trials and tribulations ALWAYS.
     Pray to GOD for guidance. Ask for HIS forgiveness when you fail, then start over again.

Dear GOD, forgive me for I have failed. Give me strength to get up and do right by You. Amen.

Please pray for me as well. I am also a sinner trying to be a living saint.

Sunday Readings of the Bible

September 13, 2015

Twenty-fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Lectionary: 131

Reading 1 IS 50:5-9A

The Lord GOD opens my ear that I may hear;
and I have not rebelled,
have not turned back.
I gave my back to those who beat me,
my cheeks to those who plucked my beard;
my face I did not shield
from buffets and spitting.

The Lord GOD is my help,
therefore I am not disgraced;
I have set my face like flint,
knowing that I shall not be put to shame.
He is near who upholds my right;
if anyone wishes to oppose me,
let us appear together.
Who disputes my right?
Let that man confront me.
See, the Lord GOD is my help;
who will prove me wrong?

Responsorial Psalm PS 116:1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 8-9

R. (9) I will walk before the Lord, in the land of the living.
or:
R. Alleluia.
I love the LORD because he has heard
my voice in supplication,
Because he has inclined his ear to me
the day I called.
R. I will walk before the Lord, in the land of the living.
or:
R. Alleluia.
The cords of death encompassed me;
the snares of the netherworld seized upon me;
I fell into distress and sorrow,
And I called upon the name of the LORD,
“O LORD, save my life!”
R. I will walk before the Lord, in the land of the living.
or:
R. Alleluia.
Gracious is the LORD and just;
yes, our God is merciful.
The LORD keeps the little ones;
I was brought low, and he saved me.
R. I will walk before the Lord, in the land of the living.
or:
R. Alleluia.
For he has freed my soul from death,
my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling.
I shall walk before the Lord
in the land of the living.
R. I will walk before the Lord, in the land of the living.
or:
R. Alleluia.

Reading 2 JAS 2:14-18

What good is it, my brothers and sisters,
if someone says he has faith but does not have works?
Can that faith save him?
If a brother or sister has nothing to wear
and has no food for the day,
and one of you says to them,
“Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well, ”
but you do not give them the necessities of the body,
what good is it?
So also faith of itself,
if it does not have works, is dead.

Indeed someone might say,
“You have faith and I have works.”
Demonstrate your faith to me without works,
and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works.

Alleluia GAL 6:14

R. Alleluia, alleluia.
May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord
through which the world has been crucified to me and I to the world.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Gospel MK 8:27-35

Jesus and his disciples set out
for the villages of Caesarea Philippi.
Along the way he asked his disciples,
“Who do people say that I am?”
They said in reply,
“John the Baptist, others Elijah,
still others one of the prophets.”
And he asked them,
“But who do you say that I am?”
Peter said to him in reply,
“You are the Christ.”
Then he warned them not to tell anyone about him.

He began to teach them
that the Son of Man must suffer greatly
and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes,
and be killed, and rise after three days.
He spoke this openly.
Then Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
At this he turned around and, looking at his disciples,
rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan.
You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do.”

He summoned the crowd with his disciples and said to them,
“Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself,
take up his cross, and follow me.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake
and that of the gospel will save it.”

My first film project: Matthew 25:31-46

Whatsoever you do to the least of my people, you do unto me.

The link is of a short film project I did. Please take a moment to view and review.

I was learning the ropes to creating a film. In this project I wanted to try to convey how desperate the homeless and refugees are and feel. For this reason I have overlapping sound effects. In my next project I'll learn to add my own sounds.

Long Beach Bus Transfers Go Paperless

   THE TAP CARD COMETH

     On September 12, 205 The Press-Telegram reported that starting next spring the Long Beach Transit "will require the use of (a) TAP card". The TAP card is a preloaded cash card, with a computer chip, that will have the ride purchase deducted automatically as bus riders swipe their cards to transfer from bus-to-bus.

     Twenty-four more bus agencies will also be switching over to the TAP card program. When all bus agencies are fully transitioned into TAP "hand punched, paper transfer" will be eliminated. This is to help avoid passengers paying twice by accident.

The following two pictures show the article from the newspaper aforementioned. The article was written by Steven Scauzillo (steve.scauzillo@langnews.com, @stevscaz).  Karen Robes Meeks contributed to this report.

Fatima Pardon Prayer

Fatima Padin Prayer

My God,

I believe, I adore, I hope and I love Thee!
I beg pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love Thee.

Amen.

2016: Works of Mercy

     Pope Francis has deemed the Jubilee Year of 2016 as the year of Works Of Mercy.  During this year, which starts on November 2015 and ends on December 2016, His Holiness has stated that the CORPORAL Works of Mercy are to be especially focused on. Actual methods of helping our families, friends, neighbors, the poor, the marginalized, and the outcast are to be especially guided by the Corporal Works of Mercy.

     The Corporal Works of Mercy is taken from Matthew 25:31-46??

     Considering all the refugees and immigrants escaping civil war I see GOD in this. He's telling us (as always) to help our brothers and sisters, in Christ. We cannot turn a Blind eye! Too many innocent lives are at risk for death.  How we behave to those in trouble, GOD will judge.

P. S.
9.25.15

     Since my original write up, the pope has asked the churches to open their doors to the Syrian refugees. The Vatican, itself, has, or it will, take in two families. Each church is to take in at least one refugee family.
