Red Scarf Project in Chicago a work of mercy

     Crochet and Comversation group has officially started participating in the Red Scarf Project in Chicago. This project is to encourage foster youth of Chicago to go beyond high school in education.

     A facilitator brought various red balls of yarn to make the 5 ft. long scarf. You can knit it, you can crochet it. As long as it meets the requirements of being 60 inches long and 5-8 inches wide.

     I am loom knitting a scarf. Another member is asking me to show her how to loom knit a scarf. She is actually very advanced in one and two needle knitting. She simply wants to learn a new medium.

Here is a picture of my 1 ft scarf. I need 4 ft. more. Pardon my hand.

This projects is a very good way to flow God's rules for Works of Mercy.

* clothe the naked
* visit the sick or imprisoned, the lonely
     Visit foster youth in high school and college setting. They've aged out and have no one to watch over them.
* feed the hungry
     Care packages are also made to show they are loved.
* give drink to the thirsty
     Ditto care packages

(Extra: it came from you because you did it yourself)

If you can do a search for Red Scarf Project in Chicago. You can participate in it from wherever you are. My group is in California. Scarves are collected between September 1-December 1 yearly. Then, in February the care packages are given out to the foster youths.
