Every Life Matters

Dear God in Heaven;

Please send down the Holy Spirit to heal AMERICA and the world. Please open our hearts and our minds so we realize that EVERY LIFE MATTERS. For every life out there, there must be meaning, as well. Help us to realize we must have fruitful work with a living wage.

Help us to learn we must nurture our family. Every babe needs food, shelter, love and attention not hunger, homelessness, yelling, screaming and avoidance.

Every domestic partnership also needs love and attention. Each partner should respect the other, and neither should continuously ashew the other.

We ask for your peace upon us Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God. Amen.

Blessed Virgin Mary;Pray for us.
Angels and Saints; pray for us.
St. Gerard; pray for us.

Peace

In the name of The Father, of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit. Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father;

Please send the Holy Spirit and bring peace to Baltimore, MD. Let cool heads prevail, Lord. Guide ALL children--teenagers, to go home after school today, so they may be safe. Help people to realize what is right, and what is wrong. Help us have transparency in government and all in authority.

WE ASK THIS IN THE NAME OF YOUR SON, OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. AMEN

Husbands respect your wives...

In Colossians 3:18-21 St. Paul writes about the Christian family. He did not merely write 3:18 "Wives be subordinate to your husbands, as is proper in The Lord." and stop there.
Instead, knowing that a Christian family contained a father, a mother, and children St. Paul added the following for everyone in the family to get along and know how to treat each other.
3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and avoid any bitterness toward them.

Husbands, love and listen to your wives. They are your life partners. Your wives run the household. They are the glue that keeps everything together. Your respective wife is important in your life and family. Don't abuse her. Don't drive her away from you. She is your other half. Your better half. You depend on her and she depends on you. You complement each other.

3:20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing to The Lord.

Children listen to your parents. They love you. They are raising you. You are a gift to them from God. They are grateful to God to have you. They are your first teacher. They teach you right from wrong, as they were taught by their parents, family and culture. When they tell you "no", chances are it's not to be mean. It's because they know something about the situation is wrong. A "no" may be warranted for many reasons. "No, you'll hurt yourself."  "No, you'll hurt others."  "No, you don't need it." (Want vs. Need; there is a difference).

Fear not children, there is a balance.

3:21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, so they may not become discouraged.

Just like with the wife, do not over do it with the children. One thing is to discipline and teach your child right from wrong. It is a whole other thing to nitpick, harass, and abuse your child. Fathers, when your child has a legitimate complaint, listen to him/her.  Pay attention to what is happening in your child's life.  Encourage your children to go forth and attempt new skills in life. Do teach them right from wrong. Do discipline them as is needed and within reason. Guide them to being good Christians, good people and good citizens.

Prayer request

Please pray for my neighbor Ch.  He was taken to the hospital two nights ago by ambulance. He has suffered a "bad stroke".

Please take a moment to pray for healing for Ch.

Prayer for the sick

Watch, O Lord, with those who wake, or watch, or weep tonight, and give your angels charge over those who sleep.

Tend your sick ones, O Lord Christ.
Rest your weary ones.
Bless your dying ones.
Soothe your suffering ones.
Pity your afflicted ones.
Shield your joyous ones.
And for all your love's sake. Amen.

New Cloth, New Wine Parables

In the name of The Father, of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit. AMEN.

As a person who is learning to sew (pre-beginner, beginner level) and as a teacher  I see how Jesus utilizes previously known information to get his message across. He teaches his disciples and followers by stating things that the average person of his day would know or recognize. Today we are able to define and interpret his teachings thanks to study bibles, bible study groups, and educated ministers. So we are able to translate words such as mites and talents into today's equivalency of money.

There are a few ways to look at the parable. One is to focus solely and directly on Matt 9:16.

Matthew 9:16 to the point.

The other option is to see the full story in context.

Matthew 9:14-17 full context of the parable.

Focus will be given on the full picture before focusing in on the parable. Many times, upon reading the bible, you will see many parables teamed up.   In this first one Matthew shows Jesus giving two parables to prove his point. The parable of the new cloth and old garment and the parable of the new wine and old wine skin.

-------- ----------------  --------- -------- ----------------  ---------

The followers of John ask Jesus,   "Why do we and the Pharisees fast (much), but your disciples do not?" Jesus went on to state that
• a wedding party does not mourn while the groom is still with them. (15)
• no-one sews an unshrunk new patch of cloth to an old garment. (16)
• no one pours new wine into an old wine skin. (17)

If all members of the wedding party are present no one is mourning. Everyone is extremely happy.

Likewise, if you need to patch up a hole on an old cloth you pick a cloth that has already been washed and shrunken. This way the patch being sewn on doesn't tug at the old garment and create new problems.

While Jesus was still with his disciples there was no need for mourning. He is the lamb of God, the Good Shepherd, the Christ. There was no need for his disciples to fast. After his crucifixion his apostles and disciples DID fast, did mourn and did pray. (Acts 1)

The 46 Parables From Jesus

Swapmeetdave.com

I was lucky enough to find this above website that went into detail the 46 parables Our Lord, Jesus Christ told his disciples. I was going to originally look up one by one the parables. God allowed me to see this immediately when I searched PARABLES OF JESUS on the search engine.

Dave has this website copyrighted 2009.
Currently I'm copying his titles of the parables. I intend to reword the titles so that I am not infringing in his work. However, his titles refer to titles from the Bible, as well. Maybe adding an extra descriptor may help.

God Bless.

Lamp on a Stand

The Parable of the Lamp

The parable of the lamp can be found in two gospels in the New Testament. Mark and Luke both recite the parable of the lamp on the stand.
